Course Description
API 580 Supplemental Inspection Certification program is designed to train inspectors on Risk-Based Inspection (RBI). The program is based on API RP 580 (Risk-Based Inspection), which is applicable to all inspectors in the petroleum/petrochemical industry. The objective of this program is to provide inspectors with advanced (above the basic core API 510, 570 & 653 certifications) knowledge and skills in the area of Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) based on the information contained in API RP 580.

An API Supplemental Inspection Certification is defined as “Documentation that indicates that minimum requirements have been met for additional qualification in the designated area of expertise”. This would include an API issued letter, certificate, and a wallet card . This certificate will add significant value to your professional credentials. It will show your employers and clients that you have obtained a high level of proficiency and understanding in this important field (RBI). The supplemental inspection certification program is open to anyone who is currently certified to either API 510, 570 or 653.

This course is designed to train individuals who are interested in obtaining the API 580 RBI Inspector Certification, as well as those who are seeking an advanced knowledge of Risk Based Inspection requirements. Included with the course is a pre-study guide and student classroom workbook. The student receives instruction regarding how to take the test, as well as insight into the intricacies of "real world" situations. Daily tests are designed to gauge students' proficiency and understanding of the material.

Course Objectives
Upon the successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:-

•  Get prepared for the next API 580 exam and have enough knowledge and skills to pass such exam in order to get the API 580 Inspector certificate

•  Know the basic concept of risk, risk management, risk reduction, evolution of inspection intervals and inspection optimization

•  Introduce risk-based inspection (RBI) including the types of RBI assessment, consequences & probability for RBI, management of risks and determine the relationship between RBI and other risk-based and safety incentives

•  Identify the steps of planning the RBI assessment by establishing objectives & goals of a RBI assessment, conducting initial screening, selecting the type of RBI assessment and estimating resources and time required

•  Learn the data and information collection for RBI assessment and explain the national and international codes & standards used for RBI assessment

•  Identify deterioration mechanisms and failure modes for risk-based inspection

•  Understand the method of assessing probability & consequences of failure and know the types of probability & consequences analysis

•  Understand the concept & purpose of risk determination, assessment and management and learn how to establish an acceptable risk thresholds

•  Develop in-depth understanding on risk management with inspection activities such as establishing an inspection strategy based on risk assessment and assessing inspection results and determining corrective action

•  Identify other risk mitigation activities such as equipment modification, redesign & rerating, emergency isolation, reduce inventory, blast-resistant construction, etc.

•  Become aware on the process of reassessment and updating RBI assessments and determine the reason why there is a need to conduct a RBI reassessment

•  Know the various roles, responsibilities, training and qualifications for RBI application and recognize their importance API 580

•  Understand proper implementation of RBI documentation & record-keeping and explain the codes, standards and government regulations related to it

Who Should Attend
Any inspector who is currently certified as API 510, 570 or 653 Inspector. Valid certificate (or certification number) in one of the above three programs shall be submitted to Haward Technology prior to registration in this course.

Course Certificate
Haward Technology certificates will be issued to all attendees who attend 75% of the course as a minimum.

(1) Haward Technology's courses/workshops/seminars meet the professional certification and continuing education requirements for participants seeking Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in accordance with the rules & regulations of the International Association for Continuing Education & Training (IACET). IACET is an international authority that evaluates programs according to strict, research-based criteria and guidelines. The CEU is an internationally accepted uniform unit of measurement in qualified courses of continuing education.

Haward Technology has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 8405 Greensboro Drive, Suite 800 , McLean , VA 22102 , USA . In obtaining this approval, Haward Technology has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET Standards which are widely recognized as standards of good practice internationally. As a result of our Authorized Provider membership status, Haward Technology is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standards .

Haward Technology Middle East will award 4.0 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for participants who completed the total tuition hours of this program. One CEU is equivalent to ten Professional Development Hours (PDHs) or ten contact hours of the participation in and completion of Haward Technology programs. A permanent record of a participant's involvement and awarding of CEU will be maintained by Haward Technology. Haward Technology will provide a copy of the participant's CEU Transcript of Records upon request.

(2) This API exam preparation training course complies with the API ( American Petroleum Institute ) regulations and is designed to prepare participants for API 580 exam that qualifies successful participants to the “ API 580 Supplemental Inspection Certification” .

Course Fee
US $ 3,750 per Delegate. This rate includes Participant's Pack (Folder, Manual, Hand-outs, etc.), buffet lunch, coffee/tea on arrival, morning & afternoon of each day.

Accommodation
Accommodation is not included in the course fees. However, any accommodation required can be arranged by Haward Technology at the time of booking.
