Seminar Duration/Credits
Five days/3.0 CEUs

Seminar Description
The use of gas turbines in the petrochemical, power generation and offshore industries has increased considerably during the past few years. The seminar will cover design, installation, operation and maintenance of these machines by highlighting their design features, performance characteristics, efficiencies, reliability and maintenance implications. Upon completion of this seminar, participants will gain a complete and up-to-date overview of the Gas Turbine technology.

Seminar Objectives
Upon the successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:-

  • Have a very good overview of gas turbines including its various types and be able to identify their components & features

  • Know the fundamentals of thermodynamics such as reversible cycles, combustion processes and gas turbine performance calculation

  • Become familiar with the mechanical equipment standards applicable for gas turbines such as API standards, AINSI PTC22 & ISO specification

  • Identify the components of gas turbines and be able to describe their features & functions

  • Understand the various materials needed for construction of gas turbines and become familiar with coating technology

  • Learn the concept of bearings & seals which include the design principle, material composition and system parts

  • Become familiar with the parts, specifications, properties and selection of the lubrication systems and fuel & fuel supply systems and recognize their importance in gas turbine technology

  • Determine the components and functions of combustion air filters and be able to carry-out its operation and maintenance

  • Know the parts, specifications and characteristics of the exhaust and auxiliary systems

  • Appreciate the concept of control system and instrumentation applied in gas turbine and be able to describe its monitoring and diagnostic system

  • Carry-out gas turbine operation including condition monitoring and be able to know the various maintenance, inspection, overhaul and repair approaches used for gas turbines

  • Learn gas turbine economics by screening turbine applications, optimizing life cycle costs and evaluating projects for upgrading & replacement
