Dr. Jim Dalton PhD , PE ( UK ) is a Senior Metallurgist & Corrosion Engineer with over 40 years of extensive experience in Corrosion , Metallurgy , Nanotechnology , Electrochemistry , Electron Microscopy . He had been the Director of Boart Longyear , a leading manufacturer of Drilling Tools and Equipments worldwide . Herein, he took charge of all technical operations within including the Metallurgical Department , Quality Control & Auditing , the Product & Research Development and Special Projects Departments . Further, he was also the Chairman of the Steering Committee on Total Quality Management System and Patents Management . Dr. Dalton was also responsible for the introduction of the new taper drilling system , a pre-bonded rubber collar for integral drill steel , a Computer Integrated Manufacturing techniques for Operator In-Line Inspection , Statistical Process Control , Local Area Network Computer Information System . Previously, Dr. Jim had been the Manager of an international manufacturer of seamless steel tubing where he served as a facilitator to its different international clients and a consultant for metallurgical, quality and production issues of the company. At the same time, he directs and acts as the Principal Investigator for Corrosion Consultants wherein he takes lead in solving corrosion problems for many prestigious small and large business clients , and directly supervises the design aspects , procedure preparation and contract negotiation concerning various corrosion requirements .

 
 

Much earlier in his career life, Dr. Dalton had fulfilled numerous challenging supervisory positions such as being the Chief Scientist for the Council for Mineral Technolog y, the Senior Principal Scientist for the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research , the Operations Manager for NASCHEM , the Chief Scientist of the Atomic Energy Board , and the Senior Officer for the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority ( UKAEA ). Herein, he had been in charge of several Metallurgical & Testing Laboratories and therefore was exposed to, and worked on many of the metallurgical failures emanating from the Fast Reactor and the Dounreay Material Testing Reactor  including the coolant systems and piping as well as the turbines , and failure examinations for site accidents especially those involving cage rope failures and corrosion . He also took on the challenge of designing and setting up the radiation proof cells and equipment for metallurgical examination and had designed the Examination  Cells the for the cutting and examination of the fuel rods for the Koeberg Reactor Station and the transportation vehicle for these.

Dr. Dalton has PhD and Masters in Metallurgy and Bachelors Degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow , UK , and is a Professional Engineer in Metallurgy . Dr. Dalton has likewise presented numerous papers at both local and international conferences .
