Mr. John Corella MSc, BSc, PE ( USA ), is a Senior Inspection Engineer with over 25 years of inspection experience in the Petrochemical, Power, Oil and Gas industries. His expertise widely extends over the Inspection, Fabrication, Maintenance, Rating, Repair, Alteration & Reconstruction of Boilers, Piping Systems, Pressure Vessel, Reactors and Tanks in Refineries, Power plants, Petrochemical and Heavy Industrial plants; NonDestructive Testing, Film Interpretation, NBIC Preparation; Coating Inspection; Underwater Inspection, NDE Testing, Risk Based Inspection, Commercial Diving, Integrity management/corrosion inspection; inspections involving UT, MT, PT, RT in accordance with API, ASME, NACE, ASM, DOT and other regulatory agencies. He has extremely good practical knowledge on the different codes and standard s including ASME SEC I , II , IV , V , VIII , IX ; ANSI B31.1 , B31.3 , B31.8 ; API 1104 , 510 , 570 , 571 , 577 , 576, 650, 651, 652, 653; AWS D1.1, D1.3, D1.4; National Board Inspection Code; Uniform Building Code and Standard ; Risk Based Inspection , Blue Print Reading , Isometric and P&ID. He gained his expertise & thorough practical experience through several challenging positions as an NDE Inspection Supervisor, Authorized Inspector, Metallurgical Inspection Coordinator, QC Manager, Quality Assurance & Control Inspector, NDE Visual Inspector for a number of international companies that he has worked closely with such as Shell, Unocal, Tesoro, Hitco and Imperial. Mr. Corella is an API 570 Certified Piping Inspector, an AWS Certified Welding Inspector, API 653 Certified Tank Inspector, API 510 Certified Pressure Vessel Inspector , ICBO/ICC - Certified Special Inspector Structural Steel & Welding , a NACE Certified Senior Corrosion Technologist & Coating Inspection Technician, and an ASNT Certified Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel. Further, John is a certified ASNT Level III in VT , PT , MT , RT .
 
 


Currently, Mr. Corella works with the Tesoro Corporation supervising all inspection and testing activities for their refineries and pipeline s. He likewise provides all NDE , API , and NBIC training to inspectors and technicians, interfaces with the State and Federal Jurisdiction for Audits , Compliance issues and/or Permits ; manages and evaluates inspection results and corrosion reports ; informs management of all inspection & testing activities , results & deficiencies ; recommends repairs & replacements, and metallurgical & non-metallurgical improvements ; implemented second generation Risk Based Inspection Program utilizing the Capstone software & strategies ; and performs risk evaluation and criticality analysis on pressure equipment . On top of that, John spends much of his time providing inspection and training services and courses in Non-Destructive Testing , Welding Inspection , Film Interpretation , API 570/510 , NBIC Preparation and Coating Inspection

Mr. Corella has a Masters & Bachelors degree in Metallurgy and Chemical Engineering . He actively maintains his affiliations with professional organizations such as the National Association of Corrosion Engineers ( NACE ), the American Welding Society ( AWS ), the American Society of Non-Destructive Testing ( ASNT ), the American Society of Materials ( ASM ).
