Mr. Schuler Cox MSc , ME , BSc ( USA ) is a Senior Metallurgical & Corrosion Engineer with over 45 years of extensive experience in Corrosion , Metallurgy , Materials & Pipeline Engineering Standards , Cathodic Protection Systems , Line Pipe Manufacturing , Materials Selection , Pipeline Technology , Pipeline Fitness for Service & Risk Analysis , Pipeline Fracture Control , Failure Analysis and Corrosion & Degradation of Materials . Presently, he is a Consultant for G-5 working on their metallurgical engineering and pipe manufacturing operations . He is also the Principal Engineer & Consultant for Corrosion , Metallurgy & Pipelines.

 
 

Earlier in his career life, Mr. Cox had occupied several pertinent and challenging roles for numerous international companies such as being the Advisor for Bechtel Engineering , the Metallurgical Engineering Specialist for Chevron Mobil , the Senior Metallurgical Engineer for Tenneco Gas , the Metallurgical Section Supervisor for Tennessee Gas , and a Materials Consultant for valves , pressure vessels and other equipment . Herein, Mr. Schuler had been responsible for the specification & procurement of NDT equipment ; taken lead on the installation of HIC testing labs , and a new metallurgical & mechanical testing lab ; spearheaded activities hazard identification, consequence analyses & quantitative risk analyses ; and further chaired the Materials and Corrosion Control Standards Committee with responsibility for standards, specifications, and procedures for piping materials and corrosion control . He had also been involved in numerous cathodic protection system development projects , metallurgical failure analyses on a variety of systems including pipelines and oil company upstream & downstream operations and investigations of sulfide stress cracking ( SSC ), stress corrosion cracking ( SCC ), hydrogen induced cracking ( HIC ), and stress-oriented hydrogen induced cracking ( SOHIC ). Alongside, he involved himself with writing standards for line pipe , fittings , induction bends , material selection of piping components , positive material identification ( PMI ), low temperature service , sour service , and fracture control .

Mr. Cox has a Masters and Bachelors degree in Metallurgical & Ocean Engineering from the University of Florida . He is a well-respected member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers ( NACE ), the American Society of Metals ( ASM ), the Pipeline Emergency Task Force , the American Gas Association and the Technical Committee for the Middle East Corrosion Conference .
