Mr. Bill Matthews (Canada) MSc, MBA, BSc ChEng, is a Senior Chemical Engineer with over 40 years of extensive experience within the international Oil, Gas and Petrochemical companies. His expertise cover Refinery Optimization & Economics; Crude Oil Marketing; Gasoline Oxygenates Technology; Petroleum Refinery Process; Technology & Economics of Hydrocarbon Production; Processing, Utilization; and Oil Products, Natural Gas & Gas Liquids Supply, Distribution, Economics, Logistics, Transportation, Trading, Pricing and Taxation. Currently, he is the President of a consulting firm, specializing in the economics and planning of downstream petroleum and total energy. At that, he has executed more than a hundred projects within the US, Europe, Canada, and in more than sixty-five developing countries for private industry, governments and international aid agencies such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the United Nations and the Canadian International Development Agency. His experience includes refinery process economics work related to both capital investment planning and to the optimization of plant operations. He has executed several refinery feasibilities and analyses pursuant to the determination of business and asset values of oil refineries, petrochemical plants and other hydrocarbon processing and downstream petroleum facilities. His analytical work has served as inputs to several corporate strategic assessments for international petroleum refining companies, including crude oil valuations for the determination of government fiscal/royalty values, and fuel product procurement for power utilities.

 
 



Bills experience was not only confined to industry & business alone. Whilst attending his industry and consulting career, he had already been extensively involved as a curriculum developer and instructor in training and technology transfer activities. He was also able to largely share his expertise and impart his knowledge in the academe by engaging himself with researches and lectures in for several universities and companies and has held numerous training courses on Refinery Technology , Downstream Petroleum Economics & Planning , Engineering Economics , Refinery Process Economics, Biofuels Applications, Natural Gas Supply and Demand Modeling. Previously, he had occupied several significant positions with different international companies, like being the Logistics Advisor, a Senior Analyst, a Refinery Engineer, and a Facilities Planning Engineer.

Mr. Matthews has a Masters and Bachelors degree in both Chemical Engineering and Business Administration from the University of Birmingham (UK) & the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK). He is a well-regarded member of the International Association for Energy Economics, the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering, and the Association of Professional Engineers – where he is also serving as a Designated Consulting Engineer. Further, Mr. Matthews has been accorded several awards among which are the Chemical Institute of Canada Book Award, the Society of Chemical Industry Gold Key Award, and the Athlone Fellowship.
