Mr. Gordon Duff (UK) is an International Expert in Process Control & Instrumentation with over 40 years of industrial experience in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East . His experience includes all aspects of engineering and application of Modern Control Systems from Field Measurement and Control Valves through to the implementation of Distributed Control Systems ( DCS ), SCADA and PLC .

A major part of Mr. Duff's career has been spent as BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER and Process Control Division Manager with HONEYWELL, who pioneered the concept of DC S . This experience includes the expansion of the SASOL group of companies in South Africa, where at the time, SASOL 2 was the biggest DC S installation in the world . Following on from this was the up-grade of the NATREF refinery at Sasolburg; the SAPREF refinery and the ENGEN refinery, both in Durban . The ENGEN refinery is now one of the most modern refineries in the world . It should also be noted that these refineries have integrated their Field Measurement devices through a plant-wide field-bus network . Other projects include the application of DCS systems in Kuwait, Iran and Italy, among other areas.

Gordon has also worked with TAYLOR INSTRUMENTS (now part of ABB ) who also introduced a Direct Digital Control ( D DC ) computer for Supervisory Control applications . In addition to Honeywell and ABB, Gordon worked for Scottish Aviation, British Aircraft Corp, John Brown Inc, and Krohne.

Gordon is one of those rare individuals who combine a strong theoretical knowledge with that of practical on the job experience . His working career for the past forty years has focused on Process Control and Instrumentation for industries ranging from aircraft to oil and gas to heavy manufacturing . Gordon is the first to admit that he has made mistakes and learnt a lot in the numerous projects that he has co-ordinated or managed over the years. But what distinguishes Gordon from the academic theorists is that he has done the hard yards and knows what works and doesn't . He doesn't merely refer to a textbook but draws on real life experience where he has cut his teeth on real process control and instrumentation projects.

Gordon has a degree in Engineering fro m the Technical College of Blackpool - UK . Further, he has City & Guilds Full Tech Certificate (T4) from Kilmarnock Technical College - UK, an H.N.C. Mechanical Engineering Certificate from Harris College - UK and a Certificate in Electrical and Control Engineering from Harris College - UK .

Gordon has many patents and publications that include: Development of a Three Beam Ultrasonic Flow meter, Applications Considerations on Radar Level Measurements, Review of Ultrasonic Flowmeters, etc.
