Dr. John Sproston (UK) PhD Mech Engg, has been engaged in the general area of Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics for about 35 years and has been closely involved in various aspects of Turbomachinery for about 25 years .

 
 


His industrial career started as a Senior Technical Engineer with Rolls Royce where he was involved in the design of turbine blading subject to pre
specified distributions of pressure for aircraft engines and then later joined the academic staff of the
Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Liverpool in the UK .

Dr Sproston has published about 120 technical papers and has contributed to twelve (12) related text books . He has acted as a consultant to numerous industrial companies world-wide and has been a member and chairman of various Governmental industrial and research committees in the Mechanical Engineering sector.

A substantial part of his work has been concerned with detailed aspects of Flow m etering both of single and multiphase flows and he has supervised doctoral research students in this area in collaboration with various European flow meter manufacturers . He has lectured widely in these and related areas and has delivered technical papers and short courses to over 100 international conferences.

Dr Sproston is currently a consultant to the flow m etering m anufacturing sector in the UK and advises on both the application and operational constraints of flow m eters in the oil and gas industries . He is a recognized authority in these areas.

Dr Sproston is currently a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Liverpool .
