He is also well versed with the coordination of oil production forecast, drilling activities and all aspects of oil and gas fields. He is currently the Operations General Manager of HBSIE where he is in charge of the Drilling and Work-Over Divisions. 

Mr. Shaker started his career as a Production Engineer working on the production reports for different oil companies. Then he worked as Field Production Engineer at WEPCO, where he started to get involved in drilling, producing wells performance, well-testing, wire line and work over rigs. He worked as Field Supervisor ((Zakum West Super Complex) and Well Head Towers Superintendent (Umm Shaif Field). During this time main duty was to supervise, monitor and coordinate the operation of well head towers, oil producers, water injectors and test separators. He was also employed by ADMA-OPCO as the Production Engineer responsible in closely monitoring the oil, water and gas production rates, wells performance ; and coordinates with the different divisions (petroleum, reservoir, and field) with regards wells availability and allowable production rate. Then he held higher positions such as Plant Commissioning Supervisor (Zakum West Super Complex), Process Plant Production Supervisor (Umm Shaif Super Complex) and Senior Production Engineer (Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company). In these positions, he was immensely engaged in pre-commissioning and commissioning of water injection plants, gas producing wells, chemical injection system, Oil Separation Plants (CSP), Water Injection Plant (WIP), Gas Treatment Plant (GTP) and Power Generation Plant (PGP). Lastly, he was the Production Superintendent/Deputy Field Manager of Dragon Oil. His major function was management and coordination of all activities associated to Production Operations on both offshore and onshore: Gas Oil Separation Plant, Oil Water Separation Plant.

Mr. Refaat Shaker has a Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Cairo University.
