Mr. Robert Horne (Australia), is a Senior Electrical Engineer with over 35 years of experience worldwide. He is currently a Consultant specializing in High Voltage Cable Jointing and Termination, Electrical Design & Earthing, Cable Performance Reporting, Site Testing/Investigation/Management, provision of AutoCAD design drawings and overall site safety requirements.

 
 


Mr. Horne
started his successful career with Victorian Railways as an Electrical Engineer responsible for the design of traction substations, equipment and switchgear for 1500volt DC/22kv AC. He also worked on the design of overhead transmission lines as well as traction overhead. Then he transferred to Olex Cables as the Electrical Engineer/Project Manager. During this time he intensely got involved in providing manufacturing electrical services for new installations, managing maintenance requirement for 415volt to 22kv AC site, High Voltage testing, machine controls, programmable logic controllers, substations, emergency power generation including six 700kva diesel alternators and clean room for EHV manufacturing facility. Later on he became the Chief Electrical/Project Engineer Manager for Dunlop Olympic Tyres. He managed all electrical personnel, switchgear and electrical equipment 415/3, 3.3, 6.6, 22KV with electrical motors up to 1500HP. Ultimately, he was the Electrical High Voltage Project Manager for Olex Cables.

Mr. Horne effectively performed numerous multi-million dollar international projects such as design, installation and testing of 22/33/110KV underground transmission lines in New Zealand ($30M), 220KV XLPE underground cable & accessories including fibre optic & oil pressure monitoring for the cable system from Brunswick to Richmond ($22M), 230KV transmission line overhead/underground for West Irian Jaya, 11/22/66KV cabling and accessories for Brunei Power Station, Prysmian 230kv XLPE Cable & accessories for Ecuador Hydro Electric Plant, Tasman undersea fibre optic cable ($120M), 110 KV XLPE cable Viscas NU Project in Connecticut, USA and 132KV underground cabling for Homebush Olympic site ($40M). He did several missions in China as well, like the first 110KV power cables to cross a suspension bridge ($1.5M), 220KV cable & accessories for a hydroelectric station ($2M) and 220KV underground transmission line electrical services for a Telecommunication Cable factory in China ($25M).

Mr. Horne has a Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Engineering) from Victorian University, Australia.
