Mr. Walther Schwellnus (UK), is a Senior Electrical Engineer with over 30 years of Electrical Engineering experience in diverse industries. He is currently the Electrical Maintenance Manager of Rand Water where he is in charge of maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipments.
 
 


He manages the entire electrical maintenance component including system design, protection scheme, MV switchgear, motor induction for MW and LV Switchgear. He provides technical support for electrical engineering projects, carries out low voltage cabling, reviews electrical designs as well as preliminary and protection designs.

 Mr. Schwellnus started his career as a Junior Engineer for Iscor Works, where he gained skill in electrical distribution up to 33kV, motor testing for steel mills, investigation and faultfinding of switchgear failures up to 11kV, LV, MV and cable location. Then he transferred to Rand Water with the post of Engineer, through merits he became Senior Engineer and later on got promoted as the Chief Electrical Engineer. During this time he was responsible for the supervision of electrical equipment installation, switchgear, transformers, motors, variable speed drives, medium and low voltage cabling. He prepared designs and contracts for 2.2kV/400V switchgear and 6.6kV/400V miniature substations. He negotiated for electrical utility provision of 6.6kV power supply. He was the Electrical & Instrumentation Section Engineer for Botswana Ash, where he oversees electrical and instrumentation engineering function of manufacturing facility and equipments including 11kV/3.3kV switchgear, LV, 3.3kV motors and protection system. Then he worked with Stewart Scott International as the Senior Electrical Engineer. He was involved in the design of electrical and electronic services as well as electrical design system

 Mr. Schwellnus has affiliations with several prestigious organizations such as Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers, Chartered Electrical Engineer and the Institution of Engineering & Technology.

 Mr. Schwellnus has a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
